Level 1 · Beginner: Quranic Arabic grammar for Namaz
The aim of the first level is simple: understand what you say in every prayer.
- The three kinds of words: ism (noun), fe’il (verb) and harf (particle). See Quranic Arabic grammar basics.
- The definite article al- and tanwīn
- Masculine and feminine; singular, dual and plural
- The three cases and their endings (-u, -a, -i), called iʿrāb
- Prepositions and why the noun after them ends in -i
- The possessive construction (iḍāfa): بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
- Attached and detached pronouns: إِيَّاكَ، رَبُّنَا
- Applied to every phrase of Namaz and to Surah al-Fatiha, word by word
Level 2 · Intermediate: understanding the Qur’an directly
- Nominal and verbal sentences: subject, predicate, doer and object
- Past, present and command verbs, and how prefixes and suffixes show the doer
- The root system: how a three-letter root builds families of words
- Common particles that change the meaning of a sentence
- Reading short sūrahs with the grammar in view, so the meaning comes from the Arabic itself
Level 3 · Advanced: deeper command of Quranic structure
- Verb patterns (forms) and what each adds to the meaning
- Word order for emphasis, as in إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ (“You alone we worship”)
- Longer passages, vocabulary in context and reading translations critically
- Using tools such as a word-by-word grammar corpus on your own
How classes run
